Stevenson shown here with her First
Place piece and ribbon in 2004 (Clearwater, Florida) |

Joining the Keyhole in 1998, Virginia "Gin" has been
painting since the 60's and dying silk for the past ten years.
Her silk pieces start as white silk, stretched as
canvas on a frame. Hot wax is used as a resist, with procion heat, heat
set dyes, both applied in many layers. Her silk work and wearable art have
brought her many awards over the years. (You can see a sampling of her
silk robes, wrap silk slacks, cute denim blue jean and silk skirts, and pillows
below)
Growing up in New Jersey, Gin has an impressive
educational background in Art, Art Education, and Mathematics. She has
worked as a teacher in algebra, geometry, drawing and painting among
others.
She is a member of the Cedar Keyhole, the Cedar Key
Art Center, the Appleton Museum, and the Pinellas County Fiber Artist's
Guild. You can view Virginia's work at the Keyhole or
e-mail her for more information.
