Bruce was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Ohio. After spending four years in the United States Navy he moved to Florida where he met the woman of his dreams. Bruce & Patty were married in 1988, and have two wonderful children, both attending SanteFe Community College.

Patty and Bruce’s mother took a gourding class. That is when Bruce’s gourding began. In September of 2005 Bruce was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Due to surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments, Bruce is blind in his right eye, which left him disabled from a 20-year career as a cartographer.

Gourding is Bruce’s therapy. He has recently received a license from the University of Florida to use all logos and graphics on his gourds, and signs.
